So on to Christmas scrapping. I decided to use Cathy Zielske's monthly templates and did a double page spread, containing a total of 18 photos (9 per page) which pretty much summed up Christmas. Each of my three children got the same layouts, with several photos appearing on all three layouts (mostly on the second page that contained the journaling), but with many of the photos concentrating on just them. Tell me if that doesn't make sense.
The middle photo on each second page layout was a small amount of journaling that read like a list of things that made up our Christmas season.
In order to use Cathy's templates, you need photoshop or in my case photoshop elements. I printed out my completed template as an 8x10 photo and stuck it on a green piece of cardstock, and ran a strip of pp along the bottom. If you aren't into digital templates etc, you could totally do this page using paper scrapping. You just need to be able to crop all your photos down to about 5cm x 8cm. You can replace as many photos with journaling squares as you feel is needed. And you could stick '2010' right over the top of a photo with stickers.
If you are like me you took a million photos, Christmas seems like months ago, and you don't feel like scrapping 40 or so different Christmas pages. For me, this collage concept is a good solution!
How's your Christmas scrapping going?

hee hee Nicole, you'll have to start calling this a "friday evening post"! :-)
ReplyDeletelove the CZ collage, must drag it out again myself - have not looked at the christmas photos - honestly I did not take many at all, I stepped away from the camera! felt good on the day, but I will probably wish that I did take more at some stage!
and I think great idea about using the same layout three times, and changing out the photos to suit the child, I do the same thing myself! great work!
so glad you are back!
I don't have a stack from the day itself but I have filled one 8gb card while away and emptied the 2gb once and it is full again - I think I will have more than enough photos from late Dec to end of Jan to make quite a nice mini .... that is if I don't drown in the photos before that!
ReplyDeleteMy scrap plan is to use these particular templates each month for this year - trying to simplify - I feel like I get plenty of off the cuff moments in my pages which I like, but often I miss what we were actually doing!
And, last year I didn't do a lot of paper scrapping ... with these templates, as you've shown today, I can use up a bit more of that lovely Bazzill!
Great to have you back well and rested for 2011. Love the christmas templates, it's the only way to go to get all those photos printed. Love your Australia Day photos...I must admit your face painting techniques are a lot better than mine...I ended up doing 3 stripes on their faces and the comment back was "how come you did it to look like an Indian"....well...the real answer is I'm good at a lot of things, face painting is not one of them!!! Happy New Year even though we are just about at February. Kathy
ReplyDeleteGreat page Nicole!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are well.
Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteOff Topic- I laugh every single time I read your descriptions of your 3 girls on your sidebar :)
Ahhhh I haven't even printed my Christmas photos!! But after around 6 hours on the phone to Telstra I think I have fixed my computer woes and may have enough internet access to order them on line and get started! Although I haven't finished November, October, September!!! zMust get a wriggle on. Think I will be doing a straight lift of your Christmas pages-although Im not hugely inspired, they are important and I know I will love looking at them down the track as I already love looking at 2003, 2004 etc.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!!
Jodie
Clarification: not hugely inspired by my christmas photos that is, but they are important. IAM inspired btw by your christmas layouts-hence the scraplifting-and especially by the strip of patterned paper at the bottom and the 2010 letter stickers!
ReplyDeleteThat was me, Jodie-I most definitely am losing my mind!
ReplyDeleteThese pages are lovely! I admire your ability to keep going with Christmas, as I abandoned mine in favour of a new year! Looking forward to more - wonderfully vibrant pages to look at.
